Saint Anthony Shelter for Renewal is a private, non-profit overnight shelter in the South Bronx for men who are over 18 years of age and clean of drugs and alcohol. Our newly renovated six-story facility houses 30 guests. Guests can stay for up to 6 months, during which they are provided with an individual room, showers, dinner and breakfast.
What sets us apart from other city shelters is our focus on “Renewal.” We seek to empower men to recover from substance abuse issues and other personal crises through a small, structured, communal environment with individual attention and a focus on personal responsibility. We provide men with more than just a bed – we offer them the guidance they need to rebuild their life.
St. Anthony’s is one of the primary apostolates of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, a Roman Catholic religious order active in New York City. As such, we also provide a wealth of spiritual resources while respecting a guest’s freedom of conscience – guests of any or no faith are welcome to stay with us.
